Ben Slocum, Co-Driver, #600 Ford Fiesta – things went alright, it's really hard to judge how an event will go by superspecials alone, since there were three in a row, just trying to drive their own pace to get used to being back in the car after about a month off. The car feels great, the crew has always done a great job.
Geoff Clark, Co-Driver, #501 VW Rabbit – Everything's smooth, everything's running good, have just done a couple short little superspecials and are excited to get out on the long stuff.
Tom Barton, Driver, #330 Mazda 323 – Superspecials were good, the car is running good, it handled the jumps pretty good, seems fine.
Darlene Jones, Co-Driver, #724 Toyota MR2 – Things are going very well. They almost lost it coming onto the tarmac at the end of the Mexico Rec Center stage, almost went into the bushes.
Jeff Secor, Co-Driver, #244 Volvo – They are having fun so far, the car is running like a beautiful Swede should.
Mike White, Driver, #900 Saab 900 – About the superspecials: "Those are some pretty tough long, arduous stages out there in spectatorland." Only have about three miles on the car but things are good. The new car and Mike are bonding well. He and new co-driver Jared are fast friends, "Thick as thieves in Car 900-land."
Gary Wiggin, Driver, #289 VW Golf—Things are pretty good, the car feels a lot better, it has had some issues the last couple rounds. Got the car together and it's going really well. We'll really know in a couple minutes.
Jim Perrin, Driver, #716 Jeep Commanche – Hit the jump as fast as they could, and felt like they got a lot of air. It nose-dived into the landing though. The truck is running great , it just needs a little bit more speed.
Lee Silverstone, Co-Driver, #807 Mitsubishi Lancer – Things are good, the first stage went well, then on transit they caught on fire. Power steering fluid started leaking out, hit the hot engine, and started sending smoke all up into the car. They cut the power steering belt, took off, and it was fine. It went well after that.
Simon Wright, Driver, #311 Ford Focus – Had a lot of fun on the spectator stages, but hit some mechanical problems. On one of the jumps they sheared off a bolt from the motor mount. They have a temporary fix. They have one of two bolts holding the engine on the front right side. They have a piece of 2x4 bolted under the skid plate, holding the engine up from underneath. It's a European fix. This afternoon they just have to drive smooth, so they can get back tonight and fix it. They are not going to be able to take the big jump on Concord Pond. The goal is to finish and have fun.
Luke Sorensen, Driver, #699 Saab 99 – Things are going great, they are just trying to take it sort-of conservative, there's not much time to be made on the superspecials. They sort-of rolled the jump, but they're getting the feel for the car.
